How to play them
Every group starts with the beat and ends right as the next one arrives: the first step is to feel a steady pulse and fit the group inside it. The first note falls on the beat; the rest are spread evenly, without rushing at the start or crowding at the end.
It helps to practice them slowly with a metronome, alternating with the normal division: two eighths, triplet, two eighths. That makes the change easy to feel.
A way of studying them
Tuplets are best studied by going from the known to the new, always over the same pulse.
